Currently, we’re a full month into the spring sturgeon fishery in the Fraser Valley.

Winter was long here in British Columbia and there was no shortage of snow this year in the Fraser river watershed.  We have some high water levels on the way and its been a while since we’ve seen these current river levels for mid May.  The conditions are variable from day to day, but the sturgeon are there, and they are willing.  Use some caution out there, and always be on the lookout when on anchor.

With the warm weather, interior lakes are icing off, and that means its time to put the little boats on the water and bring out the trout rods.  Local lakes produce fish as well if you don’t have the time to drive up the highway to the interior.

Salmon opportunities may be available for sockeye and chinook in the Fraser river for 2018 – we’ll be watching the outcome of the sockeye return as this year is the strong year for the Adams river sockeye.  In 2014 and 2018, there were strong sockeye returns and good angling opportunities.
